Lithium Disilicate Glass Ceramic
E-max (lithium disilicate) full ceramic restoration is a monolithic or layered ceramic product that offers high aesthetics and light transmittance. It is evaluated in front tooth crowns, thin laminates and selected onlay-inlay applications.
Does not contain metal infrastructure; A result close to the light transmittance of natural teeth can be targeted. The risk of fracture in the posterior region under excessive chewing load is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and shared with the patient.
Production Techniques
It is produced in the laboratory using CAD/CAM milling or pressing techniques. Minimal preparation crown and veneer options depend on the remaining enamel thickness; Strength limits are also evaluated for long bridges.
Adhesive bonding protocol supports the bonding of the restoration to the tooth. Shade layering and characterization are done at the laboratory stage; Material thickness in the posterior region affects the risk of fracture.
Indications and Limits
Anterior area aesthetic crowns, porcelain lamina and selected implant-supported aesthetic crowns can also be evaluated. It should not be assumed that it is suitable for every case with long bridges or high occlusal load bearing; The risk of breakage, material thickness and adhesive application requirement are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Full crown indication is evaluated for fragile teeth after root canal treatment. In long bridges, strength limits are also considered clinically.
Comparison with Zirconia and PFM
E-max, zirconia and metal-supported porcelain offer different features; E-max is not absolutely superior to zirconia in every region or region. Material selection is made according to the type of restoration, remaining tooth tissue, region, clearance and occlusal load.
Maintenance and Monitoring
Hard object biting and limited consumption of coloring foods and beverages may be recommended. Night guard can protect ceramic restorations in bruxism.
In case of breakage or cracks, renewal may be required. Edge harmony and gum health are monitored during regular check-ups.
Adhesive Protocol and Bond Strength
Surface preparation and adhesive cement protocol affect bond strength in E-max restorations. Material thickness and preparation design in the posterior region under chewing load affect the risk of fracture.
