Protective Restorative Smile Approach
Restorative smile design is an individual approach in which the needed procedures are selected after diagnosis and planning. Composite bonding, professional whitening, gum contouring and minimally invasive adjustments may be assessed; it is not a standard single package or a procedure that requires veneers or crowns in every case.
Digital smile simulation or a mock-up may clarify expectations before treatment. Facial symmetry, the lip line and front-tooth proportions are assessed together; exact symmetry or a permanent result is not promised.
Examination and Functional Assessment
Occlusion, bite relationships and jaw-joint symptoms are important for the sustainability of the aesthetic plan. If gummy smile or gum asymmetry is present, periodontal contouring may be planned together with bonding.
Existing fillings, decay and sensitivity are treated first. If bruxism is suspected, a night guard may be recommended for protection.
Application Options
Shape, size and edge-form correction with composite bonding can be applied in one session in many cases. Whitening may lighten the natural tooth shade; determining the bonding shade after whitening may be useful for harmony.
Diastema closure and chipped-edge repair can be combined within the same restorative plan. The same intervention is not applied to every tooth; the needed area is targeted.
Patient Approval and Staged Treatment
A mock-up try-in may be used for form and length approval before the definitive procedure. The staged treatment schedule may include sequencing such as whitening first, followed by bonding or gum adjustment.
Phonetic tests with f, s and v sounds may help adjust front-tooth length. Patient feedback may lead to plan revision.
Care and Long Term
Composite surfaces may change colour over time; regular polishing and professional cleaning may be useful. Limited consumption of staining foods and drinks may be recommended.
At review visits, bonding margins, occlusion and gum health are assessed. If a need for prosthetic veneers arises, the plan is reconsidered within prosthetic rehabilitation.
Digital Planning and Preview
A preview may be offered with digital planning or mock-up; video analysis may support assessment of smile dynamics. The process may vary according to selected procedures and laboratory needs. The restorative plan is prioritised in cases that do not require prosthetic veneers; if a crown or laminate need arises, it is reassessed within prosthetic rehabilitation.
